On May 4, Wyman Walden and daughter Brittany inaugurated their second True Value store, C&W Hardware of Dawsonville, Georgia, after overcoming considerable obstacles. For nearly two years, weather, city approvals and roadwork delayed construction and right when they began merchandising, they tragically lost their Dahlonega branch location to fire. Nevertheless, they persevered although the city still hadn’t connected any of the utilities in Dawsonville. Thanks to the ingenuity of True Value project manager Will Couick and his team, the staff used headlamps and generators for three weeks to keep the project on schedule.
Wyman and Brittany are proud they stayed the course to get C&W Hardware up and running, and the return of their equity money provided an added boost. This 10,000 sq. ft. DTV facility features Stihl power equipment, Carhartt clothing, a brand-new paint carousel color center and an expanded garden center. The owners were very pleased with the support they got from True Value’s live goods product merchants and encourage fellow retailers to utilize their expertise with planning, product and vendor selection.
Opening weekend treated local residents to three grand prize giveaways, a 25% off bucket sale, free hot dogs, BOGO paint, prize drawings, and a Scotts demo. True Value retail consultants Dan Markley and Steve Young, regional director Tim Hanna, finance manager Mike Block and RDC manager Nick Kurnick joined customers and representatives from the Dawsonville Chamber of Commerce for the festivities.
Congratulations to the Walden family and C&W Hardware!
