On April 20, Dan and Monica Douglas held a grand reopening for their 10,500 sq. ft. facility, Belleville Hometown Lumber. This Kansas DTV store has great visibility from Highway 81 and features a new large paint carousel that’s really turning heads. The owners were able to fund this remodel with their returned equity money and are considering Microsoft Dynamics 365 as a future enhancement.
The Douglases are most proud of the overall growth and expansion they’ve seen since purchasing their store in 2014. “The key is to keep evolving and keep things fresh, always trying something new,” Dan explains. “Diversify to be more valuable to your customers.”
True Value RD Steve Brookhart and RC Berkley Buhrle attended the festivities, along with representatives from Forest Products, Milwaukee, Rustoleum, Boral, Scag Mowers, Golden Look, MidAm and local vendor Hickory House Popcorn. Giveways included a mower, pressure washer and patio set. Boral also hosted a dinner and seminar at a local restaurant the evening before the celebration.
“Preparation is key to being successful,” Dan continues. “It’s not easy. A lot of it is doing what your gut says to do and rolling with it.” Monica agrees it’s essential to plan in advance, enlisting friends and family and making use of social media both before and during the event. She expresses the store’s motto simply: “be honest and genuine with your customers.”
Congratulations to the Douglas family and Belleville Hometown Lumber team!
