Brinkmann True Value Goes Green Again in Sayville
October 30, 2017
On October 22, Brinkmann True Value Hardware, a newly relocated DTV store in Sayville, New York, held their grand opening. The move combines two nearby stand-alone businesses (True Value Hardware and Benjamin Moore Paint) into one building spanning 16,074 total sq. ft. (13,382 sq. ft. of retail space). The space includes new Carhartt and Big Green Egg categories, as well as a new Benjamin Moore in-store prototype design.
Including this location, siblings Ben Brinkmann, Hank Brinkmann, and Mary Nieman own a total of four DTV stores and one paint store. They are also the first net-zero energy retailers in America, with this store being their second net-zero energy building. Rooftop solar panels generate 100% of its power and energy conservation is achieved through geothermal HVAC, highly insulated envelope, LED lighting, and a thermoplastic "cool roof." By not burning gas or oil, it achieves the same CO2 reduction as planting 89 acres of trees per year.
Brinkmann True Value’s grand opening event attracted over 200 people, with customer counts of over 1,000 throughout the weekend. Randall Coe, Jason Blair, and Jeff Brewer from True Value attended the ceremony, which had live music, free beer, and two days of bucket sales offering 25% off to the first 100 customers.
Congratulations to the Brinkmann Family and team!
