On April 7, Scott and Diane Baumer held a grand reopening for Medford True Value Hardware & Rental in Medford, New Jersey. A relocation and expansion enhanced the 20-year old facility from 5,000 sq. ft. to approximately 12,000 sq ft., combining six separate store fronts. In an impressive feat of teamwork, the owners and store team did all the demolition and construction work themselves!
“When it comes to visual appeal and merchandising acumen, this retailer truly transcends the normal paradigm and expectations,” retail consultant John De Paolo observes. Specifically, the store features a premium greeting card and gift shop, capitalizing on the niches of party rentals and home décor to attract the female consumer. “It is all about the female focus in a hardware store,” explains owner Scott Baumer. The store is also leveraging True Value’s new digital and conventional promotional packages to craft an integrated marketing strategy.
Even chilly, misty weather did not stop Medford True Value from tripling their daily retail Outdoor sales on the first day of festivities. The town mayor, local congressman, radio personalities, journalists and other town officials attended. Finance manager Mike Block, RM Paul Bernard, rental national sales manager Mike Smollock, and RC John De Paolo represented the True Value team. Special activities included a bucket sale, ribbon cutting and giveaways for a Weber grill, pressure washer and cordless drill.
Long-term customer and WKXW-FM radio host Dennis Malloy praises Medford True Value for “the variety of a big box store, but with a personal touch,” adding that “the people here know you and how to help you.”
Congratulations to the Baumers and the Medford True Value Hardware & Rental team!
